The prestigious London based magazine ‘The European’ – has named 4 Africa Exchange (4AX) “Best Trading Platform Firm – South Africa”. This coincides with the announcement by south Africa’s main Central Securities Depository Strate of its provision of clearance and settlement support for the new stock exchange. Strate is majority owned by Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

The 4AX technology was designed and developed by GEM, with 4AX holding an exclusive ‘License’ to operate in South Africa. GEM has offices in Mauritius, London and Gold Coast and its major developer is Dialog Information Technology based in Brisbane Australia

4AX states on its website “4AX uses smart Exchange technology customised to (it) for the needs of the targeted 4AX issuers and investors. It’s modern scalable technology design and infrastructure reduces cost and increases efficiencies.”

According to GEM Founder and CEO Wayne Sharpe “this is a direct reflection of the skills, experience and technical excellence of the GEM team.”

GEM owns the Intellectual Property for this technology plus a large suite of other exchange and trading platforms, including unique 3rd party interfaces with banks, registries and regulated ‘clearing houses’. Previously focused on Environmental FinTech infrastructure, the 4AX exchange technology was their first venture into Regulated Shares and derivatives technology infrastructure.

But now they have big plans to expand into this sector Globally. “GEM is currently undertaking an Institutional/Private Equity capital raising program, to expand into this and other Fintech design and delivery, preferably as licensed products rather than us as the operator” says Wayne. “We pride ourselves on being able to solve any FinTech challenge with unique bespoke design, backed up by world class development”.

GEM doesn’t intend to lose its ‘EnviroTech’ focus or ‘DNA’, and has projects under way for Carbon & Forestry and even Blockchain implementation, to add to multiple Carbon, Environmental ‘Allowances’, Renewables (such as RECs) and Water exchanges/platforms already built.
