Global Environmental Markets(GEM) was proud to sponsor this year’s Innovate4Climate and hosted a large delegation of Climate Markets and Investment Association(CMIA) members. The guest list included representatives from Mott MacDonald, Ricardo, CPE Celland Gaest.com, among others.
GEM used the Carbon Trade Exchange(CTX) to offset the carbon emissions for all the delegates in its party, whom had travelled to Frankfurt from various locations including the UK, Denmark, and South Korea.
To offset these carbon emissions, GEM selected the Gold Standard Certified Kale HPP hydroelectric project in Turkey which has an associated emission reduction of 25,000 tCO2 per year. The project was designed to improve the country’s energy security and increase its renewable capacity and while providing employment opportunities within the Rize region.
More details of the project can be found here
A total of 33 verified emissions reductions (VERs) were used to offset the Carbon Footprint associated with GEM staff and CMIA members’ travel, accommodation and conference participation at Innovate 4 Climate.
